The ATC trivia quiz

In honor of All Things Considered's 30 years, the quizmeisters of NPR's news quiz program Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! have produced a Special Anniversary Edition of the Listener Limerick Challenge -- or in this online iteration, the Web-browser Limerick Challenge.

While the weekly Wait Wait... tests NPR fans' knowledge of the news, this Special Anniversary Edition tests fans' grasp of great (or at least notorious) moments in the history of All Things Considered.

You will read three ATC-related limericks with the last word or phrase missing. If you guess the missing word or phrase correctly two out of three times, you win the prize: the know-it-all smugness that is the hallmark of every public radio junkie. (Okay, you guessed it, there's no actual prize -- but you will feel better about yourself. Or, no worse.)

And now, the ATC Anniversary Limerick Challenge:

Limerick 1:

The name-contest was not embittered.
The winner got no prize that glittered.
"From short plebes to tall kings,
Their thoughts will get small wings.
Let's call the show '__________'"

Answer 1

Limerick 2

Ms. Totenberg's so well equipped,
But now she sits flushed and thin-lipped.
"I think I have flipped.
Someone will get whipped
For giving me this garbled __________."

Answer 2

Limerick 3

For Science, I, Flatow, embark.
With Susan. Alone. In the dark.
We seek not to spoof,
But empirical proof
That Wint-o-greens give off a __________.
