Quote 2 (Listen)

CARL: "His case for her boils down to: 'Because I say so' and 'She really is a nice person.'"

"I guess they thought we'd all just say 'Whoopee!"

and...

"Being on the Supreme Court isn't like winning a 'Best Employee of the Month' award. It's a real job."

Those were just three of many critical comments about the Miers nomination. What makes these comments, and others like them, stand out is that they all came from... whom?

Carl: "I think with a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court, you can't play, you know, hide the salami or whatever it's called."

That was a prominent Democrat weighing in on the nomination. Who was it?

Who's Carl, Round II

Quote 1 (Listen)

CARL: "It's fall now. Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to work -- and life."

That bit of pastoral poetry was from a letter written by Dick Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby. Turns out that Scooter liked to pass all kinds of information, about trees and other things, to a well-known woman who had been serving time in a Virginia jail. She was released last week. Who?

Hint: Among the things he liked to muse about, in poetry: Valerie Plame's CIA cover.

Answer 1

Quote 2 (Listen)

CARL: "We will continue to give [him] the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise. In the meantime, we're happy to take his money."

That's a spokesman for Ohio Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH), saying his boss has no plans to return campaign donations from a certain indicted congressman and prolific fundraiser. Whose money is still good?

Answer 2

Quote 3 (Listen)

Carl: "We have no idea whether or not a virgin birth was written into her contract. We imagine her lawyers are looking into that right now."

That's the smartalecky Hollywod Web site Defamer.com reacting to the announcement that what couple is expecting their first child?
