Distinguished jazz pianist and educator Dr. Billy Taylor returns for the eighth season of his sensational series, Billy Taylor's Jazz at The Kennedy Center. Recorded live at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the show features a different guest artist every week.
Between songs, the guest artist responds to questions from Dr. Taylor and audience members that range from appeals for advice on musical technique to inquiries about personal philosophies on jazz.
Responses are always spontaneous and often lead to musical demonstrations and some of the program's finest moments.
The performances and Q&A are recorded and turned into one-hour radio shows, distributed for broadcast to NPR jazz stations.
The show is supported by the following funders:
The Kennedy Center Corporate Fund
The Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund
The Metropolitan Life Foundation
The U.S. Department of Education
