Whoa, got a killer BDay bouquet from my sisters today, convincing proof that the arrangement you get has little to do with what you requested, but with the creativity and wherewithal of the florist you call. This one was created by Ralph Hawkins at City Flowers Interiors (www.cityflowerspdx.com), a guy who just happens to be my very sweet neighbor. My guess is he upped my sisters' order to the tune of $50-$75 bucks.
Here's what we've got:
Yellow orchids (species? can't say), green cones of amaranthus (admittedly, I'm guessing), the olive-looking seed pods of eucalyptus, dense little buttons of acacia flowers (yellow, bottom left) airy dill flowers (yellow, bottom middle), a broom-like stalk of papyrus, tall green Bells of Ireland, and yellow sprays of forsythia. Considering that green flowers are just about my favorite, this bouquet pushes all my buttons (perhaps not all, but frankly, it's been so long, I'm not even sure where those other buttons are)...
