Virtuoso vibraphonist Gary Burton is a true innovator who's also highly regarded as a composer and educator. His inventive technique constituted a new phase in the evolution of the vibraphone as a jazz instrument, while continuing the tradition set forth by pioneers such as Lionel Hampton and
Milt Jackson. Playing before a packed house at the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater, he launches into Frank Lesser's "Almost Like Being in Love", setting the tone for a very entertaining and enlightening
performance.
