For five decades, trumpeter, flugelhorn player, and bandleader Maynard Ferguson has thrilled audiences with his piercing high notes and explosive virtuosity. On this edition of Billy Taylor's Jazz at the Kennedy Center, Ferguson mesmerized yet another audience in San Luis Obispo, CA with his dazzling musical fireworks as he joined Dr. Taylor's trio in riveting renditions of "A Night in Tunisia," "But Beautiful," "Take the A Train," and "There'll Never Be Another You." In conversation, Ferguson offered some insight reflections on his long, storied career in music.
