Flutist Hubert Laws
"I grew up in a family that was deeply entrenched in gospel music."
   -- Hubert Laws
Along with Herbie Mann and James Moody, Hubert Laws was one of the first musicians to help establish the flute as a solo jazz instrument. Laws is also a noted composer and arranger with a musical scope that includes bebop, European classical, R&B, and smooth jazz. On this edition of Billy Taylor's Jazz at the Kennedy Center, recorded live at The Rialto in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Taylor welcomes a pioneer of jazz flute -- Hubert Laws.
