"I think that my style has developed and hopefully has more depth. But basically my style is the same. I didn't realize exactly what my style was."

From his 1960`s soul-jazz hits, "Hang on Sloopy" and "The In Crowd" to his cool urban contemporary sounds of the `90s, pianist and composer Ramsey Lewis has excelled in hard bop, funk, fusion, world music, and smooth jazz. Throughout all of his 70-plus recordings, the Chicago-born Lewis has always stayed close to his jazz roots. On this program he plays and talks with Billy Taylor, in a swinging hour of duo jazz piano, providing thrilling renditions of George Gershwin's "Lady Be Good," John Lewis' "Django," Oscar Peterson's "Nigerian Marketplace," and Denny Zeitlin's "Quiet Now."
