As the definition of jazz is constantly expanding, so is the definition of Latin jazz. Saxophonist and composer David Sanchez is a part of the new generation of Latin jazz artists, who have expanded the stylistic idiom to include rhythms and melodies beyond the traditional sources of Cuban and Brazil. On this spirited edition of Billy Taylor's Jazz at the Kennedy Center, Dr. Taylor welcomes Sanchez to play with his trio on tunes such as "What Is This Thing Called Love?" "Darn That Dream," "Diz, "Have You Met Miss. Jones," and "Sippin' at Bells," and talk about his life and music.
