Some of the most significant sounds of the 20th century emanated from CBS
Radio's Studio 9 in New York City and veteran broadcaster Robert Trout
remembers them. Trout says that between 1938 and 1964 he presented world
events to the nation from that perch high over Manhattan.
Recently when he
was preparing to ship more than 100 boxes of his personal papers and
broadcasts to the University of Texas at Austin, he found a long forgotten
transcription of the program in which he said farewell to Studio Nine -- 35
years ago. In it -- among other things - the last ever chat with Edward R
Murrow.
